Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a new platform for integrated storytelling by weaving elements of specific genres in a unique way, utilizing a proprietary creative pipeline to elevate a storyteller’s intent to resonate on both an individual and global level. Our goal is to inspire audience members who identify with the complexities of our characters and their journeys to engage in otherwise difficult conversations that can lead to real-world connection, support, and healing.
The Importance of Stories
At its core, storytelling is about connection and communication.
A story is most impactful when told by interesting characters on journeys with visceral experiences and conflicts that are emotionally relatable.
Character relatability provides a pathway for empathy and an acute awareness of universal core values.
The fierce protection of a mama bear crosses all geographical locations.
Loneliness is an ache hardly limited to a specific demographic.
The pain of betrayal stings within all social classes.
The innate need to love and be loved can even surpass the bonds of mortality.
The magic of storytelling lies in the unique opportunity for real-life communication via a surrogate—the story's character. Our own unique personal reaction to the character’s response to conflict provides a safe forum for the indirect expression of our own unique opinions, feelings, or even traumatic experiences that might otherwise remain dangerously concealed. Through this character, our own confusion, shame, curiosity, and/or pain can be safely examined – and healing can begin.

At its most basic, Gakume exemplifies the three pillars of storytelling: book, art & music. Within Gakume, each medium supports the others and genre specialists bring their own unique voices to the planning table to engage in truly collaborative storytelling.
